Voice notes → tasks & reminders
A voice reminder app.
With the reason attached.
Say what you need to do and when. Chela turns your voice note into tasks and reminders, with the original detail saved for later.
Voice notes require a paid plan. Manual tasks and metrics are free.
A small commitment, with the detail attached
Say it now. Know what to do later.
You record
“Remind me to call Nina about the kitchen quote on Friday at 10 am. Ask whether installation is included.”
You choose when to record. Chela processes the note, then you review the result.
Check the reminder
Call Nina about the kitchen quote
Ask whether installation is included.
Check which Friday the app selected and confirm the time before relying on the reminder.
01 / How voice reminders work
Turn the thought into a next step.
A voice reminder app lets you speak a task instead of typing it. Chela can extract tasks and reminders from a voice note while keeping the rest of the note available to search later. That is useful when “call Nina” needs a little more context: which quote, what question, and when you intend to call.
- Record the action and timing. Open Chela and say what you need to do. Include the person, date and time. You do not have to format a task title while speaking.
- Let the note finish processing. Chela’s official app listing describes automatic reminders from spoken notes. If you record offline, reconnect so the AI can process the recording.
- Review what was saved. Check the action, name, date and notification time. Edit a mistaken detail and make sure notifications are allowed on your phone.
For a longer walkthrough, see turning a voice memo into a task. This page focuses on choosing a useful reminder and keeping the detail you need when it arrives.
02 / Everyday uses
A reminder should arrive while you can still act.
Return the parcel before the deadline
The return window ends on Saturday, but Friday after work is your chance to reach the parcel shop. Say both: “The shoes must go back by Saturday. Remind me on Friday at 5 pm to take the parcel. Bring the return code.” Check that the notification is set for Friday, not just the final deadline.
Ask the question before the meeting
“Remind me on Tuesday at 9 am to ask Leena for the revised delivery date before our 11 am meeting.” The task is asking Leena. The meeting explains why the reminder needs to come earlier.
Follow up after a phone call
After speaking with a repair shop, record your own recap: “Call the shop on Thursday at noon to check whether the replacement part arrived.” You can return to that note if you forget why you were calling.
These are personal tasks you can review in Chela. Mentioning another person does not mean the app sends them a message, books an appointment or completes the task for you.
03 / Choose the workflow
Chela, Siri or a note with a reminder?
If all you need is a single alert, the reminder tool already on your phone may be enough. Choose Chela when you also want to keep a longer spoken thought, organise its actions and find the context again.
| Your main need | An option to consider |
|---|---|
| Speak a quick reminder on an iPhone | Apple documents creating reminders with Siri, including time and location options. Apple’s instructions. |
| Attach a reminder to a Google Keep note | Keep reminders are saved in Google Tasks. Google says mobile notifications come through Tasks or Calendar. Google’s explanation. |
| Capture a longer voice note with tasks and background detail | Chela combines spoken notes, extracted actions and questions about saved context. Voice notes require a paid plan. |
This comparison is written by Chela’s founder from the linked product documentation. It is not a hands-on reliability benchmark. Chela does not need to replace a reminder routine that already works for you.
04 / Make the timing clear
“Sometime tomorrow” leaves something to decide.
Say a time you can use: “tomorrow at 6 pm” is more actionable than “later.” For something weeks away, include the date. If you mention a deadline and an earlier alert, check both rather than assuming the app chose the distinction you intended.
Before relying on a reminder
- Open the saved task and read the full date and time.
- Check notification permission for Chela in your phone’s settings.
- Review Focus, Do Not Disturb or other settings that may silence alerts.
- Try a low-stakes reminder on your device before using the workflow for an important commitment.
Keeping the source note helps with the question an alert alone often leaves unanswered: “What was I supposed to ask?” Learn more about searching your saved voice notes.
Questions, answered
A few things worth knowing
Does Chela listen all the time?
No. You start a recording intentionally. Chela processes what you record; this is not continuous background listening.
Can I use voice reminders on iPhone and Android?
Chela is available for both. Check the store listing for your device’s requirements, then review notification permissions and test a reminder on that device.
Does voice recording work offline?
You can capture a recording offline. AI processing needs an internet connection, so reconnect and confirm the reminder exists before depending on it.
Will Chela add the reminder to Google Calendar?
Chela’s Google Calendar connection imports events in read-only mode. It does not create, edit or delete Google Calendar events. See the calendar and tasks guide.
Is this a free voice reminder app?
Chela is free to download, with manual task creation and manual metric tracking on the free account. Creating voice notes requires a paid plan. Check the app for current limits and regional prices.
Can I change a task when my plans change?
Review and edit the saved task in the app. If an appointment changes, check the related reminder too; mentioning a new time elsewhere is not a reason to assume every earlier task has been updated.
